Hamilton, Ontario — Helping employers “start their journey toward a mental health program” is the aim of a new toolkit from the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety.

The free toolkit features four video learning modules:

  • Healthy Workplaces: An introduction to healthy workplace concepts and program development steps.
  • Addressing Workplace Factors: Understanding psychosocial factors and related hazards and risk, and how to address them.
  • Conversations and Change: Having meaningful conversations about mental health, and how to manage change from both employer and worker perspectives.
  • Recognize, Assess, Control and Evaluate: A discussion on prevention practices and how mental health intersects with workers’ needs to be included, to be treated equitably, and to have their diversity respected and valued.

Each module also includes checklists and links to a number of resources.

“Creating an environment where employees feel supported and valued not only improves their well-being but also strengthens organizations,” CCOHS President and CEO Anne Tennier said.
