Phoenix — Governor Katie Hobbs has officially recognized June as National Safety Month in Arizona, following a request submitted by the Arizona Chapter National Safety Council (ACNSC), reinforcing the state’s commitment to eliminating preventable injuries and fatalities.
Each June, ACNSC joins with the National Safety Council (NSC) to lead National Safety Month, a nationwide campaign to raise awareness of the leading causes of preventable injury and death. Preventable injuries are the third leading cause of death in the United States, killing 197,449 people in 2024. For this year’s campaign, ACNSC is calling on employers to educate and engage their workers on these four weekly topics: moving safety forward, staying safe on the roads, promoting holistic worker health, and preventing slips, trips and falls.
“We thank Governor Hobbs for recognizing June as National Safety Month in Arizona,” says Rick Murray, President and CEO of the Arizona Chapter National Safety Council. “National Safety Month is a reminder that safety isn’t something we focus on only after an incident occurs. It’s something we build into what we do every day. By educating workers, employers can help create safer environments where everyone has the opportunity to go home safely at the end of the day.”
