Waterloo, Ontario — A new series of “posters and practical resources” from experts at Waterloo University is aimed at helping employers address vibration-related hazards.
The university’s Centre of Research Expertise for the Prevention of Musculoskeletal Disorders developed the resources in partnership with Laurentian University’s Centre for Research in Occupational Safety and Health.
The collection includes four webpages:
- Vibration: General Awareness – details the types of vibration exposures and health risks
- Hand-Arm Vibration (HAV): Awareness – details the symptoms of hand-arm vibration syndrome and ways to control exposures/reduce the risk
- Hand-Arm Vibration (HAV): Management – explains how to manage vibration exposures and includes examples using the Hierarchy of Controls
- Vibration – features additional resources, including links to webinars and a hand-arm vibration calculator
The resources are intended to “make it easier for organizations to strengthen awareness, improve assessment and implement effective controls in line with Ontario’s MSD Prevention Guideline,” a CRE-MSD press release states.
