Washington — The American Trucking Research Institute is looking for input from trucking industry stakeholders on the most critical issues facing the profession.
ATRI, which is the research arm of the American Trucking Associations, recently launched its annual survey prompting respondents to rank their top three issues among a list of 27. Safety-related choices include hours of service, safe truck parking, autonomous trucks, detention/delay at customer facilities and marijuana legalization.
Respondents also can submit concerns not included on the list of choices.
“For over 20 years, the industry has relied on the annual Top Industry Issues Survey to highlight the critical issues facing our nation’s supply chain,” ATA Chair Dennis Dellinger said in a press release. “ATRI’s research provides an opportunity for thousands of trucking industry professionals, from drivers to executives, to weigh in on the most challenging topics that affect our day-to-day operations and collectively decide on the most promising strategies for addressing each.”
The deadline to complete the survey is Oct. 10. Results are set to be released Oct. 26 during the 2025 ATA Management Conference and Exhibition in San Diego.
The 2024 list featured multiple safety-related issues. Safe truck parking ranked second, followed by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s Compliance Safety Accountability safety measurement system (seventh), driver detention/delay (eighth) and driver distraction (10th).
