Washington — The Consumer Product Safety Commission is warning people not to use Werner’s 20- and 24-inch Multi-Max Pro Multi-Purpose Ladders because of safety issues.
According to an agency recall notice, the ladders’ locking mechanism can jam and may not fully lock into place. Werner has received 18 reports of falls associated with use of the ladders – 14 of which resulted in bruising; lacerations; head injuries; or fractures to a wrist, a leg or the ribs.
“The ladders were sold in silver with a blue top and a blue label on the side rail,” the notice states. “The label includes an oval containing the word ‘Werner’ next to the words ‘MULTI MAX PRO,’ along with the size and model number ALMP-20IAA or ALMP-24IAA. The ladders also have a long black rope in the back section.”
The ladders were sold both at Home Depot stores and online from November 2021 to February 2024.
Stop using the recalled ladders and contact Werner for a refund by calling (888) 624-1907 or emailing ladder@realtimeresults.net. Information on how to dispose of the ladders is available at wernerco.com/recalls.
“Once disposal is complete, Werner will issue a full refund in the form of a check,” CPSC says.
