Pittsburgh — Respiratory Protection Week, intended to promote proper respiratory protection practices via the sharing of related research findings and educational tools, is set for Sept. 3-6.
Organized by NIOSH’s National Personal Protective Technology Laboratory, the week will include a webinar on personal protective equipment in health care. Registration is required to attend the live webinar, slated for 11 a.m. Eastern on Sept. 4.
In anticipation of the sixth annual event, NIOSH has made available resources such as a workshop titled, A National Strategy for Equitable PPE Protections for All U.S. Workers, and two blog posts:
- Providing Clarity Regarding the Regulation of Respirators Used in Health Care Settings
- Finding the Right Fit – Is Your Respirator ‘The One’?
NIOSH encourages employers to conduct activities such as staff training sessions, provide workers with educational messages related to hazards specific to their jobsites or share on social media pictures of workers following proper respiratory protection practices.
In 2019, NIOSH expanded N95 Day, which had been observed since 2012, into Respiratory Protection Week.
