to Honor Fallen Workers and Raise Awareness for Workplace Safety
Workers’ Memorial Day is an annual observance to remember workers who have suffered injuries or lost their lives while on the job. It is a day to honor their memory and recognize the sacrifices they made while working to support themselves and their families.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, in 2022 there were 5,486 workplace fatalities across the country. These tragedies remind us that workplace safety should always be a top priority for employers, employees, and policymakers alike. Through proper training, implementation of safety protocols, and regular evaluations of workplace conditions, we can prevent such accidents and protect the well-being of our workforce.
Workers’ Memorial Day is an important reminder for everyone to take action to prevent workplace accidents and illnesses. Employers are charged to provide a safe and healthy work environment for their employees, and employees must be empowered to report unsafe conditions or practices.
On April 28th let us honor fallen workers, raise awareness for workplace safety, and renew our commitment to preventing workplace accidents and illnesses. Together, we can create a safer and healthier work environment for all Arizonans.
