ATA Applauds Passage of SB 1215

Calls on Governor to Sign Consumer Protection and Transparency Bill into Law

Phoenix, AZ — The Arizona Trucking Association (ATA) today applauded the Arizona Legislature for passing Senate Bill 1215 (litigation; financing; consumer protection; enforcement), commonsense legislation that brings much-needed accountability to third-party litigation financing practices in Arizona.

“This is a win for Arizona consumers, small businesses, and the integrity of our legal system,” said Tony Bradley, President and CEO of the Arizona Trucking Association. “SB 1215 ensures that those who are directly impacted by a lawsuit maintain control of their case—not outside financiers with hidden agendas.”

SB 1215 bars foreign-influenced funding arrangements that could exploit Arizona courts and erode trust in our legal system. It also strengthens consumer protection by prohibiting litigation financiers from influencing legal decisions or paying referral fees to attorneys, law firms, or health care providers.

ATA thanks Senator Vince Leach for sponsoring this critical reform and applauds lawmakers from both sides of the aisle who voted in favor. We also extend our appreciation to our coalition partners who continue to stand up for lawsuit abuse reform and fair legal practices in Arizona.

As the bill heads to the Governor’s desk, ATA urges Governor Hobbs to sign SB 1215 into law and protect Arizona residents and businesses from opaque and potentially harmful litigation schemes.
