Workers in the cleaning industry are at higher risk for musculoskeletal disorders. MSDs include sprains; strains; and overuse injuries to the back, neck, shoulders and upper limbs.

To help reduce their risk of MSDs, janitorial workers and cleaners can follow these safe mopping tips from the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries:

If you’re a cleaning industry employer, the department recommends you provide training and frequent reminders on best practices for safe cleaning and safe handling and storage of chemical solutions. You should also give workers personal protective equipment to protect against chemical hazards.

McCraren Compliance offers many opportunities in safety training to help circumvent accidents. Please take a moment to visit our calendar of classes to see what we can do to help your safety measures from training to consulting.
